DELTA TWP. — Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar on West Saginaw Highway closed again today at the request of the Barry-Eaton District Health Department.
Two patrons who ate there on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 fell ill with vomiting and diarrhea, sparking concern among health officials that the thorough cleaning done inside the restaurant last week may not have been enough to rid it of pathogens blamed for sickening numerous people. About 250 people have reported symptoms. Health officials have confirmed norovirus was the culprit.
Those 250 patrons visited the restaurant between Nov. 22 and last Tuesday. The restaurant closed Tuesday for cleaning and re-opened Thursday.
