There's a reason why this week -- December 3 to 9 -- is National Hand- Washing Week. Did you know that according to a September 2006 survey by the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), 68 percent of Americans don't wash their hands for 15-20 seconds, which is the amount of time recommended by healthcare professionals. That number is actually up from the study done by the SDA in 2004, where 54 percent of people did a poor hand-washing job. The SDA also states that 36 percent of people seldom wash their hands after coughing
or sneezing, a major reason why germs are spread so easily from one person to another.
SquidSoap: The World's First Liquid Soap Dispenser That Promotes Healthy Hand-Washing Habits
If you are a parent, caretaker, relative or friend of a young child, you know that proper hygiene does not come easily. While adults should know when the right time to wash their hands, children on the other hand, need a little help. Don't you wish there was a way to know if your child did in fact wash his or her hands after school or before dinner, as they claimed to, and that they didn't just play with the water? Until now there was really no way to be sure, so that's why Austin-based SquidSoap LP developed SquidSoap, the world's first liquid soap dispenser that promotes healthy hand-washing habits.
The company utilizes a simple idea to promote proper hand-washing habits and good health, which will keep any parent's worries at bay. The dispenser contains an ink marker that marks the hand with a fun orange ink dot when pressed. When the ink washes off (after approximately 15 to 20 seconds of hand- washing), the hands have been properly cleaned.
The soap is foolproof because a mark will be left on the hands of anyone who has not washed for long enough, so you can send them back to the bathroom for more washing.
SquidSoap, while aimed at children, is important for everybody. The US Centers for Disease Control state that hand washing is one of the most important things one can do to stay healthy. Accordingly, it is imperative to remember and teach others how important hand-washing can be in the battle to remain healthy. There is no better time to start practicing good hand hygiene than National Hand-Washing Week.
The SquidSoap philosophy makes the habit of hand-washing easy, with its simple equation for good health, which is: Hygiene + Simplicity = Huge Health Benefits. "Let's aim for an A+ in hand-washing, not a C- as the Soap and Detergent Association survey revealed last September," said John Lynn, President of SquidSoap. "It takes very little effort, and especially with SquidSoap, children and adults can polish their clean-hand habits in no time."
The suggested retail price of SquidSoap is $3.99 and a package of four retails online for approximately $15.99. SquidSoap can be purchased at select grocery stores and pharmacies and at http://www.squidsoap.com.
SquidSoap is owned by SquidSoap LP and based in Austin. To learn more, call 888-557-3317 or visit http://www.squidsoap.com.
